A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), known as the National Progressive Hub, has declared that the appointment of Senator Godswill Akpabio, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, as the Senate President, has effectively put an end to the alleged plans of Islamising Nigeria.
The group believes that the rumors of Islamisation were propagated by the opposition to undermine the efforts of the ruling APC. However, with Akpabio’s ascension as the Senate President of the 10th National Assembly, the agenda of Islamisation has been discredited.
In a statement jointly signed by the Coordinator of National Progressive Hub, Bukie Okangbe, and National Youth Leader, Tukura Kwayi, the group assured Nigerians of promising governance in the future.
Recent concerns regarding the Islamisation agenda were fueled by a statement made by Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, who mentioned a preference for appointing more Muslims than Christians to positions of power.
The APC group’s statement commended Senator Godswill Akpabio on his election as the Senate President of Nigeria, highlighting his national influence, legislative capabilities, and significant contributions to politics across various domains.
The group emphasized that Akpabio’s victory has dispelled any notion of an Islamisation agenda promoted by the opposition and adversaries of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima. They firmly believe that such insinuations have now been unequivocally debunked. Akpabio’s triumph has reignited the hopes of millions of Nigerians, solidifying President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
The group expressed confidence that Nigeria is now poised to experience effective governance and exemplary leadership, free from unnecessary conflicts and distractions, given the capabilities and competencies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senate President Akpabio in the 10th Assembly.
